Top 10 Malaysia Flight MH370 Conspiracy Theories
By Afarin Majidi –
Ever since the Malaysia Flight MH370 was lost two years ago, the conspiracy theories started pouring in. Even after parts of the plane were found and it was declared that it crashed into the Indian Ocean in August 2015, people weren’t convinced that it was just another accident.
The mystery behind the plane that disappeared and the hundreds of passengers are the stuff of conspiracy theories. Here are the top ones that have made us all raise some eyebrows:
1-Rapper Pit Bull predicted that Flight MH370 would go missing. The lyrics of his 2012 track “Get It Started” seem to fit with the real-life tragedy: “Now it’s off to Malaysia” and “Two passports, three cities, two countries, one day.” Viewers on YouTube are convinced the two passports is a reference to the stolen Austrian and Italian passports used by two Iranians to board MH370.
2-US military base conspiracy. The U.S. government denied claims that the plane landed at its military base on the remote island of Diego Garcia. There still linger rumors that the plane was headed for the base located near the Indian Ocean, around 3,500km from Malaysia. A spokesman for the US embassy in the Malaysian capital said there was no truth in this speculation, but the rumors continue.
3-Alien abduction (see video above on this). What seems like a crazy science fiction story is what many people truly believe, that flight MH370 was abducted by extra-terrestrials. One user on social media said: “After an extensive conversation with my father & his partner, we have come to the conclusion that the only explanation is #aliens mh370.”
Another added: “I secretly believe that plane is abducted by aliens.. I know I’m not the only one..”
And one user even said: “This Malaysian airlines flight has the potential to be either the greatest heist since DB Cooper, or alien abduction. I vote aliens.”
4-The Illuminati took down Flight MH370. Some reddit users have their own explanation of what happened two years ago. One redditor, known only as i-am-SHER-locked, apparently found that the Boeing 777 in question was the 404th such aircraft to be produced.
“An HTTP 404 error means not found,” he/she wrote. “Which in this case is oddly appropriate for the status of the aircraft, or just a coincidence. Coincidence, I think not.”
5-Electronic warfare experiment. Some people believe the plane was cloaked and hidden on purpose because it was hiding hi-tech electronic warfare weaponry.
“In fact,” said one redditor, “this type of technology is precisely the expertise of Freescale, that has 20 employees on board the missing flight.”
Another redditor wrote: “There’s no telling what crazy logic they [North Korea] might have for taking a plane. They literally have no grasp of reality and have been caught red handed kidnapping foreigners, making s**t up and generally being d****es.”
6-Pilot suicide. Some people still believe the pilot of the plane killed himself mid-flight. So far there is no evidence to suggest that either captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah or co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid committed suicide, but the rumor is still out there.
To make this theory even more possible, at the time, John Brennan, head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), told the Daily Mail: “I think you cannot discount any theory.”
After authorities looked into personal or psychological problems that might shed light on the mystery, the commercial director of Malaysia Airlines, said the captain in charge of the flight was a very seasoned pilot with an excellent record. “We have no reason to believe that there was anything, any actions, internally by the crew that caused the disappearance of this aircraft.” Not many people buy this, however.
7-The Asian Bermuda Triangle. Yes, some people believe there’s such a thing. MH370-Is-piece-of-wing-found-on-remote-French-island-part-of-missing-Malaysian-Airlines-plane
Boats and planes have disappeared in the North Atlantic Ocean (the Bermuda Triangle), including Flight 19 in 1945, when five torpedo bombers mysteriously vanished.
But could there really be another deadly triangle? Social media users seem to think so.
8-Terrorists crashed the plane into the sea. No terrorist groups came forward to claim responsibility for the missing flight, but that hasn’t stopped theorists claiming that it’s the only valid explanation. And they still believe this as fact today.
The two passengers who boarded the plane with stolen passports really triggered the theory. Even Pilot David Learmount, operations and safety editor of Flight Global magazine, said: “Something happened and the pilots did not tell anyone. Why? It’s a good question. It’s extraordinary the pilots failed to call because they had plenty of time to. Unless there was a bomb on board but there has been no evidence of that.”
9-A military take out or secret weapon at work. Mike Adams, from Natural News, was one of the first people to champion this theory, which many, many people were thinking even before he posted it on his site: “If we never find the debris, it means some entirely new, mysterious and powerful force is at work on our planet, which can pluck airplanes out of the sky without leaving behind even a shred of evidence.”
He added: “If there does exist a weapon with such capabilities, whoever controls it already has the ability to dominate all of Earth’s nations with a fearsome military weapon of unimaginable power.”
10-Pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah ‘deliberately turned off passengers’ oxygen supply’ before crashing plane into the ocean. It’s been proven that the passengers died of oxygen starvation hours before the pilot performed a controlled ditching in the Indian Ocean.
One scenario conspiracy theorists have is that pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah deliberately depressurised the cabin, to deprive the passengers of air. After all, it is true that the masks dropped down automatically from above the seats, but their supply was limited to just 20 minutes.
